What’s Happening for Houston Veterans This Week (Oct 5 - Oct 11)
Happy Monday, Civvie!
October is here, and Houston's veteran calendar is packed.
This week alone, there are five opportunities to get out and connect. We're back in Spring Wednesday night for The Civvie Connect, followed by a veteran job fair, the Academies Association Luncheon, the Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike, and a charity softball game supporting four veteran organizations.
And we're just getting started. There are already 20+ veteran events and opportunities on the calendar between now and Veterans Day.
Speaking of Veterans Day...
The big news we teased last week is finally here. 🇺🇸
On November 11, The Civvie is bringing Houston veterans together at Puttery for a Veterans Day Celebration built around connection, stories, and the official launch of The Connected Veteran™.
We've put together a Veterans Day experience that will give you some fun ways to discover the veterans in the room, where they served, and what you might have in common.
And there's a lot more happening across Houston that week too.
Keep scrolling for this week's events and all the details on what we're planning for November 11th.

A Veterans Day Celebration Built Around Connection
This Veterans Day, The Civvie is bringing Houston veterans together for an evening built around connection, stories, and the official launch of The Connected Veteran™.
Veterans Day gives us a chance to remember where we've been, the people we served with, and what that service meant.
But this year, The Civvie wants to do something a little different.
On November 11, veterans from across the Houston area will gather at Puttery for a Veterans Day Celebration designed less around ceremony and more around connection. Veterans meeting veterans, sharing stories, and finding common ground.
From the moment you walk into the room, you'll have opportunities to discover the people around you.
The Then & Now Wall will feature photos of veterans from their days in uniform and some of the stories behind them.
The Where We Served Map will show just how many duty stations and shared experiences are represented in one Houston room.
And the Team Challenge will give attendees a simple mission: build a four-person team based on different military experiences and backgrounds.
The Official Launch of The Connected Veteran™
That same idea is at the heart of a new book being officially launched during our Veterans Day celebration.
The Connected Veteran™: How to Build a Lifetime of Relationships, Opportunity, and Purpose After Military Service explores something that often gets overlooked during military transition:
Your network.
Veterans spend enormous amounts of time preparing for what comes next. Employment. Benefits. Education. Finances.
But one of the most valuable things we leave behind is rarely treated with the same urgency: the relationships and sense of connection that surrounded us while we served.
Those relationships matter.
The right connection can lead to an opportunity, an introduction, a mentor, a friendship, or sometimes an entirely new direction in life.
The Connected Veteran™ introduces the SERVE Framework: Seek, Engage, Relationships, Value, Expand, a practical approach to intentionally building relationships, opportunity, and purpose after military service.
And there may be no better place to launch a book about veteran connection than in a room full of veterans doing exactly that.
We're Still Serving Each Other.
Veterans Day is about honoring where we've been.
But at The Civvie, we believe the connection doesn't end when the uniform comes off.
We'll come from different branches, units, generations, careers, and experiences. Most of us in the room never served together.
But we share something.
And that's enough of a reason to keep showing up for one another.
That's what this night is really about.
Meeting someone you didn't know. Sharing a story. Making an introduction. Reconnecting with someone who understands where you've been.
Because a stronger veteran community isn't built by simply putting veterans in the same room.
It's built when veterans connect with and support each other.
We served in the military.
Now, we still serve each other.
👉 Join us November 11 at Puttery and celebrate Veterans Day with Houston's veteran community.
