This edition keeps the momentum going with a packed lineup of veteran events across Houston. From confidence-building workshops and hiring events to coffee meetups, social gatherings, wellness retreats, and family-focused programs. There’s no shortage of ways to get connected in the weeks ahead.
Last week’s event, The Civvie Connect, was a strong reminder of why this community matters. Veterans and supporters showing up, reconnecting, and coming together is the exact energy we hoped to create (see group photo below).

Alex Peters - A Marine Veteran Building a People-First Recruiting Business
Alex Peters knows recruiting. He’s spent more than a decade placing talent across aerospace, engineering, oil and gas, software, and municipal roles, and he’s done it the hard way. One relationship at a time. As a Marine Corps veteran, Alex carried that same people-first mindset into civilian life and eventually into entrepreneurship with Rekon Point.
During his service, Alex worked in human resources as an S-1 NCOIC, supporting deployable units and managing the administrative backbone that keeps missions moving. That experience shaped how he sees talent today. Recruiting isn’t transactional. It’s about understanding people, roles, and outcomes, not blasting resumes and hoping something sticks.
Rekon Point was built with a clear point of view. Alex doesn’t want to be a traditional staffing agency. Instead, he operates as an embedded, fractional recruiting partner, working directly with company decision makers to understand what success actually looks like in a role. From there, he leverages his network and experience to make high-quality, intentional connections, not volume-based placements.
Like any mission-driven founder, Alex has chosen the harder right over the easier wrong. Rather than rushing to scale with low-quality placements, he has focused on building the right foundation: Systems. Structure. Execution. He is building Rekon Point to solve the labor shortage for the long haul, prioritizing deep partnerships over quick transactions.
What stands out most is Alex’s clarity. He knows who he serves best: Growing small businesses in skilled trades and industry that need a true partner, not another vendor. He connects them with the disciplined talent, often transitioning service members, that they can’t find on their own.
